Magnesium
- Fill the last gallon jug 3/4 full with RO/DI water.
- Take 5 cups of Smart ReefTM +Mag1 (Magnesium Chloride) and 3 Cups of Smart ReefTM +Mag2 (Magnesium Sulfate) and mix together in a clean pail.
- Add 1/3 of this mixture at a time to the jug and cap and shake.
- Repeat twice with the remaining 1/3rds.
- Fill the remainder of the jug with water.
- Label as Magnesium.
Dosing:
- First test calcium, AlkHPHalinity and magnesium levels and adjust to
their correct points if needed. Do not make drastic changes to levels.
Adjust slowly over days to get to the initial proper levels.
You can use the calculator on our web site to find the amounts to
dose.
- Once the tank is at the right levels use the chart below to
determine the daily dose. They are guidelines. Test and
adjust as necessary. Add the calcium and AlkHPHalinity separately
and slowly. Dripping is the best method. Dose 10 oz of
the Magnesium solution per gallon of the Calcium and AlkHPHalinity. This
can be dosed slowly at once or over time. Just dose 10 oz. of the Magnesium solution per
gallon of Calcium and AlkHPHalinity.
